MEGA ART FAIR – MILANO

We will present the

Inside the Flag: 1.5 × 2 meter diptych stands as one of the most current expressions of the research of Giacomo Modolo, a Vicenza-born artist from the class of 1988. His painting—always figurative yet traversed by abstract contaminations and deeply influenced by historical and contemporary events—finds in this work a sort of manifesto: an investigation into the contemporary need to belong to something in order to feel part of history.

In the painting, the space that hosts the figures merges with the decorations of a hypothetical flag, cancelling depth and perspective. Any clear distinction between what belongs to the colored fabric and what is real disappears: the environment and the figures themselves are permeated by the same chromatic contamination. Within this carnivalesque scenario, a kind of ritual seems to unfold, punctuated by the presence of small fires that at times transform into vegetal elements.

Inside the Flag thus becomes an immersive experience: being the flag and, at the same time, being the environment that inhabits it, until every boundary between individual identity and collective symbol dissolves.
