RESPIRO è il titolo della mostra personale della giovane pittrice Chen Li (Pechino, 1988) che CRAG Gallery presenterà dal 14 settembre al 20 ottobre 2023 nella sede di via Parma 66D, in continuità con il programma di promozione di giovani artisti.

In mostra un nuovo ciclo di opere e a far da protagonisti saranno una selezione di dittici, realizzati in un lungo periodo di ricerca e di isolamento. E’ il risultato di un percorso, di un’intensa introspezione in un momento fondamentale della sua vita e della crescita come artista.

All’interno di sé Chen Li ha ricercato la chiave per realizzare le opere e, di riflesso, nei propri lavori ha ritrovato se stessa. Non è una circostanza scontata, ma risultato di uno sforzo che si divincola tra concentrazione, entusiasmo, sfida, sperimentazione, sofferenza e rinascita.

Chen ha iniziato un nuovo respiro in cui energia e positività sfociano in opere con un focus sul rapporto con la natura, un ritorno alla vita che è al tempo stesso speranza e promessa. La dimensione più paesaggistica e figurativa della rappresentazione dipende essenzialmente dalla necessità dell’artista di riconnettere la sua interiorità a ciò che la circonda, mentre quella più astratta è legata al suo mondo interiore.

Si compenetrano elementi antropomorfi, vegetali e floreali, tipici della cifra stilistica dell’artista. Ogni dettaglio della composizione corrisponde ad un elemento che l’artista ha fotografato, visto realmente o immaginato, in una rielaborazione che non lascia spazio alla casualità, nonostante l’apparente atmosfera fluttuante e misteriosa.

Dipingere diventa quindi oscillare continuamente in direzione di questi due poli, alla ricerca di un equilibrio, di una dicotomia necessaria.

In una costante sollecitazione da parte del mondo esterno, in particolare attraverso i social, il lavoro di Chen Li ed il suo rigore rappresentano invece la ricerca dell’arcano, quell’entrare viscerale senza distrazione per fluttuare tra spazi decontestualizzati.

La molteplicità di circostanze diventa avvolgente anche per l’osservatore, che gradualmente unisce il ritmo del proprio respiro a quello delle rappresentazioni di Chen Li, entrando così in sintonia con l’artista.

RESPIRO is the title of the solo exhibition by the young painter Chen Li (Beijing, 1988) that CRAG Gallery will present from 14 September to 20 October 2023 at its headquarters in via Parma 66D, in continuity with the program of promoting young artists.
A new cycle of works will be on display and the protagonists will be a selection of diptychs, created during a long period of research and isolation. It is the result of a journey, of intense introspection in a fundamental moment of her life and of her growth as an artist.
Chen Li searched within himself for the key to creating her works and, consequently, in her own works she found herself. It is not an obvious circumstance, but the result of an effort that wriggles between concentration, enthusiasm, challenge, experimentation, suffering and rebirth.
Chen has begun a new breath in which energy and positivity flow into works with a focus on the relationship with nature, a return to life that is both hope and promise. The more landscape and figurative dimension of the representation essentially depends on the artist’s need to reconnect her interiority to what surrounds her, while the more abstract one is linked to her inner world.
Anthropomorphic, vegetal and floral elements interpenetrate, typical of the artist’s stylistic signature. Every detail of the composition corresponds to an element that the artist photographed, actually saw or imagined, in a reworking that leaves no room for randomness, despite the apparent fluctuating and mysterious atmosphere.
Painting therefore becomes continually oscillating in the direction of these two poles, in search of a balance, of a necessary dichotomy.
In constant solicitation from the outside world, particularly through social media, Chen Li’s work and her rigor instead represent the search for the arcane, that visceral entry without distraction to float between decontextualized spaces.
The multiplicity of circumstances also becomes enveloping for the observer, who gradually unites the rhythm of his own breathing with that of Chen Li’s representations, thus entering into harmony with the artist.
