DESCRIPTION:CONFINI  \nMostra personale di Alessandro Cardinale \n14 settembre – 23 ottobre 2021 \ninaugurazione 14/15 settembre  \nore 15/21 \n  \nCOMUNICATO STAMPA \nCon la mostra “CONFINI” Crag –  Chiono Reisovà art gallery è lieta di presentare i nuovi lavori di Alessandro Cardinale (Padova\, 1977)\, in galleria a Torino dal 14 settembre al 23 ottobre 2021. \nLa ricerca tecnica dell’artista viene portata a nuovi sviluppi e il tema NU SHU\, che Alessandro Cardinale persegue da anni\, si carica di nuove idee e sfide che ne ridisegnano i “confini”. \nLe ultime opere sono sculture realizzate in acciaio corten nelle quali l’immagine non è più raccolta all’interno di strutture\, ma si libera\, diventando essa stessa autoportante. La sua sfida nei confronti della percezione non è mai solo pura tecnica optical\, poichè i soggetti sono delicati\, gli sguardi sono visioni istantanee che incrociano quelli del visitatore ed evocano storie lontane: quelle delle donne cinesi che hanno inventato l’alfabeto NU SHU in epoca imperiale e che l’artista\, a partire da ritratti fotografici\, attualizza con la sua tecnica nella quale dai vuoti\, tra strisce di tessuto\, legno o acciaio corten\, prendono forma le immagini. E’ un lavoro sul linguaggio e sulla comunicazione ed in particolare si tratta di una riflessione sulla dinamica della comprensione di un messaggio. \nLe opere sono composte da un insieme di listelli che richiamano i ventagli sui quali venivano scritti i messaggi Nu shu che le donne usavano per comunicare. I listelli sono assemblati facendo in modo che solo da una determinata posizione si possa vedere un volto femminile orientale ma\, una volta persa quella posizione\, il “messaggio” ritorni ad essere incomprensibile. \nLa collaborazione tra l’artista e la galleria è di lunga data: “abbiamo sempre creduto nel lavoro di Alessandro Cardinale\, rigoroso\, coerente\, che fa dell’osservazione e della lentezza dell’elaborazione il punto di forza\, attraverso un linguaggio originale e raffinato e per la terza volta proponiamo il suo lavoro al pubblico torinese\, in occasione di Exhibi.To\, la settimana delle gallerie di arte contemporanea a Torino”. \n  \nAlessandro Cardinale (Padova 1977). \nHa studiato presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia.  Lavora nell’ambito dell’installazione e della figurazione\, sviluppando il tema della luce e della percezione.Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in numerose mostre collettive e personali promosse da associazioni culturali\, fondazioni per l’arte contemporanea\, gallerie ed enti pubblici in Italia ed all’estero tra i quali ricordiamo: NAMOC National Art Museum of China – Pechino\, Factory 798 Art District – Pechino\, Building Bridges Art Foundation – Los Angeles\, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di San Francisco.Le sue opere sono presenti all’interno di collezioni pubbliche e private tra le quali: Fondazione Peano di Cuneo\, Fondazione Pardes per l’Arte Contemporanea – Mirano\, Areacreativa42 – Rivarolo Torino\, North Art Space Gallery – Giacarta Indonesia. Nel 2012 vince la V°Biennale internazionale d’Arte di Pechino esponendo presso il National Art Museum of China.\nNU SHU\nIl linguaggio chiamato Nu Shu\, e’ un linguaggio segreto creato dalle donne in antichità in Cina nella regione dello Húnán\, all’insaputa dell’uomo\, per poter comunicare tra di loro le proprie memorie ed esperienze tramite dei ricami su ventagli e vestiti che venivano scambiati dall’uomo per semplici decorazioni. Si trattava  in realtà di messaggi cifrati che si tramandavano di generazione in generazione come testimonianza silenziosa della difficile condizione femminile di quel tempo. Queste sono le donne che hanno ispirato la sinfonia del celebre compositore Tan Dun (vincitore del premio Academy e Grammy\, ha diretto la sinfonia al Metropolitan Festival Orchestra di Singapore)\, per arpa e orchestra di 40 minuti\, intitolata Nu Shu: The Secret Songs Of Women\, accompagnata da 13 “microfilm” tratti dalle sue registrazioni sul campo\, che sono state scattate durante i suoi cinque anni trascorsi a ricercare e documentare la loro cultura.\n\n\nBORDERS\nSolo show of Alessandro Cardinale \nSeptember 14 – October 23 2021\ninauguration 14/15 September\n15/21 hours \nPRESS RELEASE \nWith the exhibition “CONFINI” Crag – Chiono Reisovà art gallery is pleased to present the new works by Alessandro Cardinale (Padua\, 1977)\, in the gallery in Turin from 14 September to 23 October 2021. \nThe artist’s technical research is brought to new developments and the NU SHU theme\, which Alessandro Cardinale has been pursuing for years\, is charged with new ideas and challenges that redraw its “boundaries”. \nThe latest works are sculptures made of corten steel in which the image is no longer collected within structures\, but frees itself\, becoming self-supporting itself. Her challenge to perception is never just pure optical technique\, as the subjects are delicate\, the gazes are instant visions that cross those of the visitor and evoke distant stories: those of the Chinese women who invented the NU SHU alphabet in that era. imperial and that the artist\, starting from photographic portraits\, updates with his technique in which the images take shape from the voids\, between strips of fabric\, wood or corten steel. It is a work on language and communication and in particular it is a reflection on the dynamics of understanding a message.\nThe works are composed of a set of strips that recall the fans on which the Nu shu messages that women used to communicate were written. LNDSCP is a traveling exhibition that saw the participation of the Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery in Trento\, the Area35 Art Gallery in Milan and the Crag gallery in Turin\, adapting and changing in the different exhibition contexts starting from the same conceptual system. A single catalog to document the project with the works of two artists for each gallery: Oscar I. Contreras Rojas\, Pietro Geranzani\, Christian Macketanz\, Andrea Mangione\, Giacomo Modolo and Giovanni Pasini.\nThe text is a reflection of the curator on the theme of the landscape\, which for more than a century has become a genre that recounts interior\, subjective\, poetic or conceptual dynamics\, in addition to the most evident objective characteristics.\nStarting from the axiom that every creation is primarily a self-portrait\, a representation of the self\, the landscape genre experiences a particular contradiction\, arising instead from the opposite and then being reconverted to completely new purposes.\nIn particular\, Oscar Isaias Contreras Rojas starts from the historical-artistic stimuli of the past to explode them in composition with an expressionist-abstract flavor in which an atmospheric memory remains. Giacomo Modolo breaks down the initial figurative cells making the landscape a tool to develop an informal expressive practice full of personal memories. Pietro Geranzani\, like an archivist who notes significant elements in his diary\, uses the landscape element to navigate a dense historical and referential universe.\nChristian Macketanz\, with its evocative environments populated by mysterious characters\, sets up suffused and suspended atmospheres of a neo-eighteenth-century pictorial metaphysics\, while for Andrea Mangione the landscape reaches us through online search engines\, only to be “heated” by a poetic manual and the limits of hyperrealism. Finally\, for Giovanni Pasini\, the natural datum becomes a pretext for investigations of a philosophical nature on overcoming today’s extreme anthropization that invites us to get closer to the equilibrium of Eastern thought. \n  \nCOMUNICATO STAMPA \n Crag _ Chiono Reisovà Art Gallery è lieta di annunciare l’inaugurazione della mostra LNDSCP / New means for landscape\, a cura di Gabriele Salvaterra. Giacomo Modolo scompone le cellule figurative iniziali facendo del paesaggio uno strumento per sviluppare una pratica informale espressiva densa di memorie personali. Pietro Geranzani\, come un archivista che appunti elementi pregnanti sul proprio diario\, si serve dell’elemento paesaggistico per destreggiarsi in un denso universo storico e referenziale.\nChristian Macketanz\, con i suoi ambienti suggestivi popolati da personaggi misteriosi\, allestisce atmosfere soffuse e sospese di una metafisica pittorica neo-settecentesca\, mentre per Andrea Mangione il paesaggio ci raggiunge tramite i motori di ricerca online\, per poi essere “riscaldato” da una tecnica manuale poetica e ai limiti dell’iperrealismo. Infine\, per Giovanni Pasini\, il dato naturale diventa pretesto per investigazioni di natura filosofica sul superamento dell’estrema antropizzazione odierna che invita ad avvicinarsi all’equilibrio del pensiero orientale. \n  \n

È questa la riviera che ci racconta Federico Caputo nella sua Project Room “CRAG Lido”\, un’operazione di installazione ambientale sospesa tra la dolce consolazione della nostalgia ed uno sguardo ottimista puntato verso un futuro vicino (anzi vicinissimo) che ci riconsegni il diritto di immaginare un mondo libero dalle limitazioni con cui abbiamo imparato a convivere. \nAttraverso un citazionismo che unisce ad una dimensione pop fatta di rotocalchi e incarti di gelati un racconto biografico della sua infanzia passata tra Bordighera e Ventimiglia\, tra mattonelle colorate\, aiuole fiorite e foglie di palma\, Federico Caputo costruisce una scenografia abitabile capace di proiettarci in un’estate mediterranea che si colloca fuori dal tempo e dallo spazio\, in un luogo dell’anima che profuma sale\, oleandro e bouganville\, dove radio lontane suonano canzoni ovattate accompagnate dal frinire ossessivo delle cicale. Una vecchia cartolina che si rifiuta di sbiadire. \nCRAG Lido è l’invito ad abbandonarsi ad una malinconia gentile\, ad una leggerezza necessaria in questi tempi così complessi rispetto ai quali si fanno così enormi e roboanti parole come ripartenza e rinascita\, così intrinsecamente legate nel nostro immaginario a quell’estate “calda come i baci che ho perduto” cantata da Bruno Martino. Ne risulta un pieno di corpi ammassati ma solitari\, di linee che si confondono\, di oggetti iconici e di rimandi\, in perfetto equilibrio tra di loro. \nLa cattività è nei soggetti delle opere di Giuliano Sale una condizione a lui intrinseca\, possiamo dire una cattività di rito\, un esilio naturale. \nLe opere parlano di vite in modo irriverente\, crudo\, ironico\, intervallate da momenti di delicatezza e quotidianità.  Le scene ed i ritratti nascono da uno spirito di osservazione profondo e da esperienze interiorizzate dall’artista; si esplicano\, immagine per immagine\, accostando e sovrapponendo raffigurazioni a segni evocativi e contestualizzanti\, mediante scelte pittoriche fortemente figurative intervallate da dettagli pittorici più gestuali ed istintivi. \nLe rappresentazioni e gli sguardi ci obbligano ad entrare nel rituale dell’artista\, un misto di simbolismo e realtà\, in una narrazione apparentemente caotica\, ma di fatto assolutamente meticolosa. Ogni elemento ha il suo spazio\, ogni scelta pittorica ha una sua logica\, precisa e ferma. \nL’artista ben conosce l’interiorità dei suoi soggetti\, dal punk che voleva assomigliare a Bowie a coloro che si trovano ad essere protagonisti di una deposizione\, tra i partecipanti più o meno coinvolti di una festa\, ai tre anarchici che forse non lo sono così tanto. \nOltre al ritratto\, un altro elemento ricorrente è la nudità raffigurata in chiave realistica\, talvolta erotica\, che lascia trasparire la forte empatia che l’artista ha verso la realtà e l’essere umano: non c’è giudizio morale o estetico\, non ci sono confini tra giusto e sbagliato\, ma prese di coscienza di diverse realtà che ci vengono restituite secondo la sua visione. \nLa pittura di Giuliano Sale è generosa\, basta abbandonarsi ad essa. \nLa mostra si inserisce nel programma che caratterizza la ricerca della galleria impegnata a scoprire e presentare artisti emergenti e parallelamente volta a valorizzare la pittura contemporanea di protagonisti già conosciuti come Giuliano Sale. \nSi ringrazia per il contributo Mara Lomonaco \n  \nThe Usual Captivity \nCrag Gallery inaugurates Giuliano Sale’s solo exhibition at the gallery in via Giolitti 51 in Turin\, entitled “The Usual Captivity”\, on the dates 6 May / 26 June 2021. \nThe artist\, known in the panorama of Italian figurative painting and beyond\, has created a cycle of unpublished works for this exhibition\, born during the pandemic that forced distancing as well as social withdrawal. \nUnlike many other professions\,jobs or vocations\, that of Art\, of his creative moment\, of his pictorial vision\, is for Giuliano Sale the apotheotic form of captivity; it is the glorified moment of removal from the most natural environment\, the one in the midst of others\, which is necessary for the works of Giuliano Sale. \nIt is the form of self-isolation innate in the artist’s way of working\, a necessary internment for the opening of the pictorial work. The result is a fullness of massed but solitary bodies\, of lines that merge\, of iconic objects and references\, in perfect balance between them. \nCaptivity is an intrinsic condition in the subjects of Giuliano Sale’s works\, we can say a ritual captivity\, a natural exile. \nThe works speak of lives in an irreverent\, raw\, ironic way\, interspersed with moments of delicacy and everyday life. The scenes and portraits are born from a deep spirit of observation and internalized experiences by the artist; they are expressed\, image by image\, by juxtaposing and superimposing representations with evocative and contextualizing signs\, through highly figurative pictorial choices interspersed with more gestural and instinctive pictorial details. \nThe representations and the looks force us to enter the artist’s ritual\, a mixture of symbolism and reality\, in an apparently chaotic narrative\, but in fact absolutely meticulous. In this case\, there will be on display about thirty works by the two painters who both trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. It is interesting to note how the vision of the landscape is different for the two artists: Laura Omacini is focused on an intimate representation\, she tells us about the reality that surrounds her and leads us to distant horizons\, almost to meditation. Oscar Rojas Contreras detaches himself from the horizon to abandon himself in an often celestial dimension. \nThe exhibition “Open Tales” by Oscar Rojas Contreras (Toluca-Mexico\, 1986) is composed of works whose fulcrum is the theme of the landscape declined\, however\, in a dimension that ranges between reality\, history\, classicism\, where color and the originality of the representation are the protagonists. In this case our mind is projected into an “other” dimension\, both in the very small format paintings and in the great works that make us fluctuate between running horses and battles\, between islands and sirens\, between angels and temptations. The artist metabolizes the stimuli from ancient times to rework them in a tumultuous painting\, on the ridge between figuration and abstraction. E’ interessante notare come per i due artisti sia differente la visione del paesaggio: Laura Omacini è concentrata su una raffigurazione intima\, ci narra il reale che la circonda e ci porta verso orizzonti lontani\, quasi alla meditazione.  Oscar Rojas Contreras si stacca dall’orizzonte per abbandonarsi in una dimensione spesso celestiale.  La presenza umana è assente dalla raffigurazione di Laura Omacini e qualche volta solo suggerita nel lavoro di Oscar Rojas Contreras. \nAnche la mostra “Racconti aperti” di Oscar Rojas Contreras (Toluca-Mexico\, 1986) è composta da opere il cui fulcro è il tema del paesaggio declinato però in una dimensione che spazia tra la realtà\, la storia\, la classicità\, dove il colore e l’originalità della rappresentazione fanno da protagonisti. In questo caso la nostra mente si trova proiettata in una dimensione “altra”\, tanto nei quadri di piccolissimo formato quanto nelle grandi opere che ci fanno fluttuare tra cavalli in corsa e battaglie\, tra isole e sirene\, tra angeli e tentazioni. L’artista metabolizza gli stimoli dall’antico per rielaborarli in una pittura tumultuosa\, sul crinale tra figurazione e astrazione. The thirty artworks are all selected from a long journey of silent photographic practice\, away from the clamor. In the New York pictures of 1979\, it is already perceptible the research of the essential\, pursued till today\, and conducting thought of Filippo Bosso’s work. \nHis capacity of taking over the “space-time situation”\, catching just a few elements considered relevant to his eye\, is presented in three series of works: details of Shangai’s architecture\, horizons between sea and sky in Wales and refined shots of vegetal elements\, at times to the limit of the abstraction. \nThe pictures\, that with extreme quality represent the relationship of the author with the world both natural and constructed\, are solved with a freedom sense\, a thin emotion that is actually anti-rhetorical. Filippo Bosso’s work fits perfectly with a thought by Diego Mormorio “Who takes pictures thinking about the audience\, takes pictures not for himself but for the others”. \nIn his landscapes is perceived the feeling of the author facing the vastness of nature and only a few lines are needed\, the detail of a surfer in the distance or of the wind turbines on the horizon because the observer could complete the scene in his own mind imagining the hidden part. \nDuring the lockdown it was common in the art world and not only\, to reflect about the need of finding a dimension that exiles from the continuous spectacularisation of our lives and of our actions: we will understand if these reflections will find their own space and if there will be some changes. It is a place that can be both our origin and our relevance. \nThe representations are born from the artist’s desire to return to a stage of intimacy and solitude\, as a rebirth and detachment from an excessively intrusive civilisation. This journey\, full of colours and characterised by architectures and seas\, it is powered by the love for literature from which Doucet takes a cue\, also for the choice of the subjects represented. From Zeus\, to Ulysses to Thomas Moore. An Island as utopia\, as asylum. \nThis “utopian elsewhere”\, as defined by Doucet\, is offered to our eyes\, but if we look carefully it is less inaccessible than what it seems. A Torino capitale del cinema 2020\, proponiamo una lettura dell’opera pittorica di Jiří Hauschka con riferimento alla celebre serie “I segreti di Twin Peaks” diretta da David Lynch dalla quale è stata tratta anche l’ispirazione per il titolo della mostra “I gufi non sono quello che sembrano”. \nL’artista si muove in una dimensione di simbiosi tra uomo e natura\, che domina fortemente la sua esistenza e produzione artistica\, influenzata dai paesaggi tipici della sua terra e del nord Europa\, tra laghi e foreste. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nJiří Hauschka – The owls are not what they seem \nPaintings by Jiří Hauschka (born 1965 in Šumperk) take us to an environment of confrontation\, or rather symbiosis\, of man and nature. Nature influences us more than we admit. Some painters have sensed it for a long time – especially in places where there’s a bit more of it\, like in the northern regions with plenty of forests and lakes\, or in the south with jungles and waterfalls. In those surroundings\, events involving man may be more raw\, more to the bone. The name of the exhibition is a reference to David Lynch’s legendary TV series that was set in such an environment. After that\, nothing was as it had been. This is one of the ways to look at Hauschka’s paintings. And accompany him to the painters’ wilderness. \nIn recent years\, or rather in the last two decades\, we witness the art of painting looking back at its history\, examining its options\, seeking what is still attractive and alive in past layers\, and finally realizing\, to its surprise\, that it can still invigorate today’s audience through its colours\, views\, compositions and ideas\, and be attractive for contemporary artists. And it realizes that figures set in a certain spatial or scenic configuration possess a visual and semantic potency that upsets and attracts a contemporary person just as it did in the decades and centuries before us. Fragments of past visuals are pieced together with the fragments of tomorrow’s imagination. \nJiří Hauschka turns to this type of painting method that utilizes colours and symbolic connotations\, prevalent at the turn of the 20th century – he positions himself in that period next to the Canadian painter Tom Thomson (1877–1917) – and used by contemporary painters such as Daniel Richter or Peter Doig. Reality is transformed by the painter’s narration into layered storytelling\, where the artist’s memory is interspersed with new experiences\, views\, desires and emotional turbulences. In the case of Jiří Hauschka\, we find ourselves in the wilderness of painter nostalgia\, where we look for the conceptual person\, and in urban civilization\, which has barely any options left and where we can therefore feel and see the colours of wilderness. Ultimately\, we can be justified in our impression that nothing is as it seems at the first and second glance – just like in the world of Lynch’s Twin Peaks\, where a corpse unexpectedly appears in a quiet town set in the middle of nature\, where the trees keep rustling and the waterfalls keep flowing. Il nuovo percorso tecnico-artistico dell’artista\, frutto di una lunga ricerca\, è confluito nell’unione tra la pittura che già lo contraddistingue con nuove soluzioni percettive e tecniche. \nMinguzzi riporta sulla tela i paesaggi a lui cari\, in stratificazioni che includono la natura incontaminata e selvaggia di sponde lacustri\, di intrecci di erbe\, di boschi\, di skyline offuscati e cieli plumbei che esistono nella sua memoria e attinge ai luoghi che lo circondano. Tutto ciò si unisce alla nuova tecnica pittorica che permette all’artista di esprimere originali e dettagliatissime soluzioni formali\, che ne esaltano la perizia tecnica ed il lavoro minuzioso di stratificazione pittorica. \nLa protagonista indiscussa è la luce\, sia nella rappresentazione sia nella materia\, che crea quel legame immediato con lo spettatore\, così indiscutibilmente presente nelle opere di Enrico Minguzzi. \n  \n  \n

It is a path of discovery within the relationship between Human being and Nature through the vision of the divine. Following different channels of influence\, such as male\, female\, animal\, crystalline\, molecular\, shamanic\, scientific\, the artist-explorer discovers and reconstructs new symbols and bonds. Zangirolami imagines acts and rituals\, invents new visions of the divine\, reflects on his role by retracing backwards the steps that led him to take on the role of today in society. The exhibition presents itself as a collection of works from the artist’s imaginary museum. DESCRIPTION:  \nChen Li \nCircolare\, Ciclico \nMostra personale \nA cura di Giorgio Bena \n  \nDal 5 al 21 settembre 2019 \nInaugurazione giovedì 5 settembre dalle 17 alle 21 \nsarà presente l’artista \n  \nCOMUNICATO STAMPA \nCrag Gallery presenta i lavori della giovane artista Chen Li nella mostra personale dal titolo “Circolare\, ciclico” dal 5 al 21 settembre 2019.  \nE’ una mostra-progetto la proposta della pittrice cinese Chen Li (Beijing\, 1988)\, che nasce dalla riflessione sull’incontro tra forma ed il senso Circolare\, Ciclico. \nPiù che un’antologia di produzioni individualizzate\, il complesso dei lavori in mostra nasce come frutto di una visione semiotica e curatoriale portata avanti grazie alla sinergia tra artista\, gallerista ed il giovane curatore Giorgio Bena. \nIn Circolare\, Ciclico la forma archetipica del cerchio\, scelta come formato delle opere\, è declinata in alcuni dei suoi significati più universali come emblema cosmologico e simbolo della ciclicità del tempo: attraverso le mutazioni cromatiche dei colori acrilici sulle tele\, Chen Li dà vita ad un microcosmo che ricostruisce la ciclicità della luce solare nel corso di una giornata\, dialogando organicamente con la componente fitomorfa dei soggetti che le sono cari. \nIl rapporto tra le scelte cromatiche dell’artista e la volontà di indagare le possibilità offerte da un supporto pittorico dalle forme atipiche\, sublimano in una visione complessiva all’interno della quale\, senza perdere il proprio valore peculiare\, ogni opera concorre alla costruzione di un corpus significante. \nCircolare e ciclica è quindi la natura del tempo e della luce\, soggetti concorrenti di questo insieme di lavori\, ma è anche la natura formale ed espositiva delle opere stesse che il visitatore è invitato ad osservare. Il percorso diventa una scoperta delle variazioni del linguaggio pacato e straniante di Chen Li per entrare in una dimensione senza confini. \n  \n  \nEnglish version of the curatorial text \nAt the intersection of form and circular sense\, Ciclico is an exhibition-project by the Chinese painter Chen Li (Beijing\, 1988). More than an anthology of individualised productions\, the complex of works on show\, created during the summer of 2019\, was born as the result of a semiotic and curatorial vision carried out thanks to the synergy between artist\, gallerist and curator. The relationship between the chromatic choices of the artist and the will to investigate the possibilities offered by a pictorial support with atypical forms sublimates in an overall vision in which\, without losing its peculiar value\, each work contributes to the construction of a significant corpus.\n\nIn Circular\, the cyclical archetypal shape of the circle\, chosen as the format of the works\, is declined in some of its most universal meanings: cosmological emblem and symbol of the cyclical nature of time. DESCRIPTION:  \nbn+BRINANOVARA  \nPROJECT ROOM #2 \nThunder Boogie \n  \nDal 13 giugno al 12 luglio 2019 \nInaugurazione giovedì 13 giugno 2019 ore 17 – 21 \nSaranno presenti gli artisti  \n  \nCOMUNICATO STAMPA \n“Thunder Boogie” è il titolo della Project Room#2 in occasione della quale CRAG Gallery è lieta di ospitare il collettivo bn+BRINANOVARA\, composto da Giorgio Brina (1993)\, diplomato in scultura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera e Simone Novara (1994)\, laureato in pittura al Wimbledon College of Arts di Londra ed in architettura al Politecnico di Milano. \nDal 13 giugno al 12 luglio i visitatori avranno la possibilità di inoltrarsi in una realtà inusuale per la galleria\, con un allestimento caratterizzato da un progetto ­installativo di opere realizzate ad hoc\, in dialogo con lo spazio espositivo e con al centro la figura della tigre e la sua iconografia\, accompagnati dal testo di Paolo Bonacina. \nIl titolo è esplicativo: la parola tigre deriva dal termine persiano che significa fulmine. \nLa tigre si fa pretesto narrativo per il ballo della luce a contatto con i materiali giustapposti\, traendo spunto dal manto striato del felino\, in un immaginario vastissimo tra popoli e mitologie. In particolare la figura della tigre viene scomposta in molteplici aspetti e dettagli\, attraverso combinazioni formali e di materiali che da una narrazione esistente ci portano verso nuovi orizzonti. Fotografi a Torino organised by the Museo Ettore Fico \n3rd May – 1st June 2019 \nOpening Friday 3rd May 2019 from 5 – 10 p.m. \nThe artist will be present \n    \nCrag Gallery is glad to present “Louvre 1987 – 2017” the solo show of the French photographer Daniel Pype from the 3rd May to the 1st June 2019\, in the occasion of FO.TO. Fotografi a Torino\, organised by the Museo Ettore Fico. \nDaniel Pype (1949 – Créteil\, Paris) worked as a professional photographer since he was young and went in contact with personalities from the the Parisian and international art and culture world\, such as Mirò\, Andrè Malraux\, Cesar\, Tinguely and others. \nCrag Gallery decided to exhibit for the FO.TO. event the series of photography “Louvre 1987 – 2017”\, which is the result of a curious path began by the photograph in 1987 and ended in 2017. In 1987 Daniel Pype worked at the Louvre as night watchman and moved by the silence and by the night light that pervaded the art works of the museum\, he started photographing sculptures and paintings. The results are an elegant and charming game of lights and shadows\, clears and darks\, details of the art works emphasised by the natural light of the external street lights and by the unusual framing that Pype catches with the longue exposures. The photos were kept by the artist since 2016\, when he decided to show them for the first time to the Louvre director Pierre Rosemberg\, which moved by their beauty\, encouraged him to realise a new series in 2017 with digital photography. \nIt’s interesting the comparison between the analogic photography which characterises the series of 1987 and the digital one of 2017. The art works are realized by using printmaking techniques across 2D and 3D media to question permanence\, memory and value\, relating to his own personal childhood memories\, in a way that the artist hopes is universally accessible. In particular the artist encourages to reflect on the necessity to slow down our daily life; to stop\, think and above all to remember. It is important to give a sense to our existence and to identify the failing. \nAccording to the artist\, the layering and the print\, allow to linger on filtering\, on memory\, on the empty spaces and on the construction starting from the reconstruction. Describing his work\, Yoon Il Kwon says “I continuously try to focus on the diverse possibilities of layers to make an intellectual approach to printmaking”. \nDuring the exhibition the gallery will show art works of parallel series realised by the artist on the same topic. In particular\, the sculptural work “Memory” is composed by silk-screen printing on layers of napkins. These napkins represent our consumerism and disposable society\, but also memories where Yoon Il Kwon silk screened completely or in part some faces of his classmates. Many of them are forgotten or only distant memories\, while those he remembers better resurface for different reasons and\, how often happens in our lives\, only for a moment. \n“The Movement in the Space” is a series of etchings recalling the topic of memory\, describing the artist’s childhood\, starting by details express in movement. Even if Yoon Il Kwon represents small subjects and objects in black and white\, watching the works\, our mind instantly remembers the past: the feelings\, noises\, smells of the moments we all lived and of the places we hanged out at\, recalling for example our own playground memories. \nFinally “The Path of Eyes” is a series of mixed media works\, in which the artist focuses on daily life. We always look for a “suitable” place\, we live a tense daily routine and often we forget to live the moment\, to give importance to what we see. For the fulfilment of this series\, the artist took some photographs along one of his journey. He created for each work a thematic mosaic of smaller images laid over the central image\, which represents the present and past “memorable place”. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nPaul de Flers \nUN TRAVERSÉE SANS HISTOIRE  \nMostra personale \n  \nDal 25 ottobre al 24 novembre 2018 \nInaugurazione 25 ottobre 2018 ore 14 – 21 \nsarà presente l’artista \n  \nApertura straordinaria durante La Notte dell’Arte Contemporanea  \n in occasione di Artissima 2018 \n  \nCOMUNICATO STAMPA \n  \nCrag Gallery presenta i lavori del giovane pittore francese Paul de Flers nella personale dal titolo “Un traversée sans histoire” dal 25 ottobre al 24 novembre 2018. \nLa mostra comprende lavori inediti dell’artista realizzati per la mostra. Il titolo richiama l’espressione francese Un traversée sans histoire\, ovvero “una traversata calma” e sta a significare che si è compiuto un viaggio\, un’avventura\, ma che\, apparentemente\, non è successo nulla di particolare. L’artista trae ispirazione dal titolo della poesia dello scrittore francese Blaise Cendrars (1887–1961)\, famoso per aver saputo intrecciare l’immaginario ed il reale nei suoi romanzi\, nei film e nelle sue poesie\, ispirandosi a numerosi viaggi e diventando così un personaggio leggendario\, amico di artisti come Modigliani\, Chagall\, Leger. \nNelle opere di Paul de Flers\, la vegetazione quasi astratta si fonde spesso con l’architettura funzionalista. L’artista\, affascinato dagli edifici di grandiosi architetti come Oscar Niemeyer\, Lina Bo Bardi e Charles Eames\, ne coglie scorci\, atmosfere e li trasferisce sulle sue tele\, privilegiando nella scelta le case in cui gli stessi architetti hanno poi abitato. I luoghi del Sud America\, in particolare del Brasile ed in Francia della Costa Azzurra (che l’artista ha visitato) sono dipinti con colori profondi e complessi\, risultato dell’utilizzo dei pigmenti che egli prepara per le sue tele e che ben rendono il clima della sua “traversata calma”. Talvolta ritroviamo anche figure appena accennate\, quasi silhouette\, di piccole dimensioni in confronto allo spazio che abitano. DESCRIPTION:  \nTomas Tichy \nABOUT A DIGITAL DREAM \nSolo Show \n  \n13th September – 20th October 2018 \nOpening 13th October 2018 \n  \nCatalogue on Show with text by Karin Reisovà  and Vlatislav Tokos \nComunicato stampa Tomas Tichy \n  \nFor the first time in Italy Crag Gallery presents in Italy the work of the young artist from Prague Tomas Tichy in a solo show entitled “About a Digital Dream” from the 13th September to the 18th October 2018. \nThe choice to exhibit Tichy’s work starts from the attention of the gallery towards the new generation of painters born in the mid 80s in Czech Republic. The artist is part of a trend which tries to renew the classic painting through current themes. This “Painting Renaissance” is deeply supported by the tradition of the Good Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Prague\, where the artist studied. \nThe artworks shown are coherent with the past cycles\, but they also present themselves as research medium of new and current contents that the artist expresses with technical skill\, starting from figuration to join abstract original elements. \nIn his paintings Tichy proposes a scenic plant in which he unites sparks from the reality that surrounds him and hypnotic timeless details. The artwork is permeated by a sensation of silence and stillness. They originate by the severe rationality of the impersonal and technical design typical of his city. The architectural aspect is then connected to the central skill of the new technologies and of their impact on people. The artist wants to give a double vision: on one side the technology offers himself to the man reassuring him\, supporting him\, instead on the other side it becomes creator of stress and doubts\, bringing the man to ignore the importance of empathy between humans. The artworks contain details difficult to catch\, but that influence and sometimes are crucial in the existential questions of our life. \nThe series of shown works includes the key painting Signal in which the artist starting from pictures taken in the Australian rainforest\, replaces a tree\, climbed by a friend\, with a prefabricated chipboard structure to represent the flows that surround us and that we love\, but that most of the time we lose. Il lavoro dell’artista fa parte di una tendenza che cerca di rivitalizzare la pittura classica affrontando temi attuali e questo “rinascimento della pittura” è fortemente sostenuto dalla tradizione della buona pittura all’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Praga dove l’artista si è formato. \nLe opere in mostra sono coerenti con i cicli passati\, ma si pongono anche come mezzo di ricerca di nuove ed attuali tematiche che l’artista esprime con assoluta abilità tecnica\, partendo dalla figurazione per unirvi elementi astratti originali. \nNei dipinti Tichy propone un impianto scenico in cui unisce spunti della realtà che lo circonda e dettagli ipnotici e atemporali; la composizione che ne risulta è pervasa da una sensazione di silenzio ed immobilità che derivano dall’austera razionalità del design impersonale e tecnico tipico della sua città. L’aspetto architettonico viene poi legato alla centrale tematica delle nuove tecnologie e del loro impatto sull’uomo. L’artista ne vuole dare una doppia visione: da una parte la tecnologia si pone al servizio dell’uomo e lo rassicura\, per certi versi lo sostiene\, dall’altra parte invece è creatrice di angoscia e dubbi\, e lo porta a tralasciare l’importanza dell’empatia tra esseri umani. I lavori contengono dei dettagli che a prima vista non si scorgono ma che in realtà influiscono e talvolta sono decisivi di questioni esistenziali nella nostra vita. \nLa serie di lavori in mostra comprende il quadro guida Signal in cui l’artista\, partendo da immagini fotografiche scattate nella foresta pluviale in Australia\, sostituisce ad un albero in cui un’amica si era arrampicata\, una struttura di truciolato prefabbricata a rappresentazione dei flussi che ci circondano e che amiamo\, ma che spesso perdiamo. Dopo aver conseguito la laurea presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Praga\, sta continuando con un dottorato di ricerca nella stessa università. \nRappresenta in modo originale la nuova tendenza artistica dell’arte emergente in Repubblica Ceca e collega\, con originalità\, la qualità pittorica e lo studio tecnico alla ricerca tematica\, unendo classicismo e innovazione. Le opere in rapido sviluppo di Tomáš Tichý presentano uno dei concetti più originali della nuova ondata della pittura ceca. È stato in grado di collegare tecniche di pittura ben studiate e accuratamente studiate con l’abilità e la volontà di continuare a cercare e scoprire nuovi temi per i suoi dipinti. \nNegli ultimi anni ha partecipato a diverse mostre ed è stato finalista al Columbia Threadneedle Prize\, Premio Celeste\, Art Prize CBM (Torino\, Praga\, Londra). \n
